Hello Emil! We would love to learn more about you!

Hello, my name is Emil Petkov and I am the Operations Manager at Mercatus Outsourcing. I’ve been part of the team for six months, managing projects, communicating with clients and contributing to the company’s business development.I graduated from a language high school in Silistra, focusing on English and later moved to France. I continued my education in Lyon, where I completed Information et Communication, equivalent to PR in Bulgaria. Since post-graduation internships are mandatory in France, I started my career in marketing and later transitioned to sales. Fluent in five languages, I gained valuable experience observing how companies operate in the West, which was the reason I stayed there for 15 years. However, I’ve always wanted to return to Bulgaria and make my contribution.

What led you to the decision to work and gain experience in the BPO sector?

It happened by chance. Or rather, since I don’t believe in coincidences, a close French friend offered me a job. At that moment, the offer aligned perfectly with my situation, namely my desire to return to Bulgaria. I was introduced to the company and that’s how my journey to the BPO sector began, where I’ve been for over 10 years now.

Tell us more about your professional journey. What advice would you give to those who aspire to pursue a similar path? Its challenging to give advice because everyone’s journey is individual, but I would definitely advise them to never give up, put in the necessary effort and approach their professional growth with patience. Details matter in every job and I make sure to not overlook them.

How does a typical workday look for you and what challenges do you and your team often face?

My typical day starts with checking E-mails, making coffee (which is a mandatory part and helps me focus), reviewing the calendar and daily meetings. At the beginning of the week, we have an operational meeting where we outline the plan with the team, review the week, write down the results, and discuss strategies to improve work on different projects. Throughout the rest of the day, I prepare the necessary communication for key clients, interact with various agents to plan for the upcoming week. Regular communication and discussing issues lead to the prioritized and timely resolution of various cases. Of course, I pay great attention to my work related to finding potential clients from France and the region.
